Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ernie Els (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nuppu Lupaus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Els comes to the cage accompanied by Cassidy - Wake Up. Lupaus is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Finnish Alphabet & Pronunciation. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Els will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Els avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lupaus ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Els connects with an inside leg kick.
Els scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Lupaus misses with a two punch combination.
Els is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lupaus.
Els displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lupaus.

Lupaus fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lupaus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Lupaus connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Els momentarily.

and Lupaus counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Lupaus throws a lazy uppercut
and Els counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Lupaus might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Els needs to keep his hands up - Lupaus had a free shot at his head there.
Els does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Els lunges at Lupaus with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lupaus's hand.
Lupaus moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Ernie Els is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lupaus shoots in for a takedown but Els shows good takedown defense.
Els keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Els takes a swing at Lupaus's ribcage but misses.
Lupaus bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Els's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lupaus scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Els to see if he's OK.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Ernie Els will probably get the nod.

The fighters circle momentarily. Els darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Els shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Lupaus counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Els tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lupaus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ernie Els is winning the standup battle so far.
Els lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Lupaus falls backwards - clearly groggy! Els dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

After winning the bout, Ernie Els thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
