Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Camel ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 23 - 1, fighting out of New York, Angel Rivera! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivera darts in and clinches Camel up against the cage. Camel keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rivera's efforts to push away. Rivera is trying to trip Camel . He has hold of a leg but Camel is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rivera persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Rivera missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Camel tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rivera trying to control the position from guard on top but Camel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rivera sitting in guard here, content to control. Camel manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rivera is squirming around, avoiding Camel 's attempts to control the action. Camel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Camel unloading with bombs! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Camel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rivera can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Camel landing strikes, looking to finish! Camel lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Rivera really wants to buck Camel off and get back to his feet. Camel with the ground and pound from mount. Camel working away from the top, dropping strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! Camel unloading with bombs! Camel landing strikes from the mount and Rivera is in trouble! Camel fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Rivera is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Camel throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Rivera has his hands clasped together but Camel breaks the hold and Rivera is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Camel !
