Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alberto Lopez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Carlo!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Carlo.
Carlo shoots in but no luck this time.
Lopez wants to clinch.

Alberto Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lopez slips a jab and a cross from Carlo.
Lopez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Lopez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Carlo is looking for a triangle but Lopez pushes his legs off easily.
Carlo wants to sweep but no luck.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lopez connects with a nice short shot to Carlo's temple.
Carlo tries to kick Lopez off but Lopez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Lopez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carlo is just riding it out for now. Lopez eventually gives up the hold.

Carlo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lopez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Carlo is trying to control the position but Lopez postures up.

Lopez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alberto Lopez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


No joy there for Carlo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lopez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carlo.
That kick from Carlo tenderised Lopez's leg. Lopez is trying to keep his angry face on.

Carlo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carlo.
Jim Carlo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carlo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Lopez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carlo's guard.
Alberto Lopez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Carlo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lopez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Carlo is pushing down on Lopez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lopez is fighting to maintain full guard but Carlo has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carlo moves nicely into side control.
Carlo scores with a couple of short elbows.
Lopez tries to buck Carlo off but Carlo is having none of it.

Carlo is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Lopez looks calm but he's in trouble here. Carlo gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Lopez is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Carlo lets go of the hold and Lopez can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jim Carlo!
