Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Kano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sherk has chosen Champions as his entrance music. Jack Kano has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Kano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shawn Sherk! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kano stuffs the takedown. Sherk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kano tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sherk was well out of range. Poor timing from Kano. Kano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. Kano throws a leg kick so Sherk counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Sherk is looking to work some ground and pound but Kano has wrist control. Kano trying to keep a closed guard but Sherk is proving a slippery customer.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack Kano wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Kano tries a head kick but it misses.
Sherk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kano manages to avoid it. Kano looks to score with a jab to the body but Sherk is just out of range. Sherk gets a takedown into half guard. Sherk stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Shawn Sherk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kano stuffs the takedown attempt from Sherk. Sherk gets slowly back to his feet. Sherk looks gassed! Kano throws a sloppy head kick and Sherk moves out of range easily. Kano throws a body kick that misses and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. No luck for Sherk with that takedown attempt. Jack Kano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Sherk. Sherk takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Sherk fails with a takedown attempt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kano throws a head kick that Sherk semi-blocks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherk moves out of range of the body kick. Kano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sherk takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kano scores with a head kick. Sherk tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sherk crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kano - the referee stops the clock and Sherk gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kano. Sherk manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Jack Kano is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kano lands with a good body shot. Sherk ducks under a wild hook from Kano. Sherk closes the distance looking to clinch and Kano counters with a right hand to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kano throws a big shot that misses. Kano misses with a two punch combination.
Kano connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Kano scores with a nice right hand.

Kano swats away the attempt to clinch by Sherk. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kano jabs Sherk to the body, keeping him at a distance. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kano throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Kano dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
The fight stays on the outside here - Sherk looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Sherk tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kano paws at him with a jab and circles away. A looping hook to the body misses from Kano. Sherk does a little dance to reset his feet. Kano misses with a leg kick and Sherk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kano's guard. Sherk throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Sherk in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sherk gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Kano throws a wild body kick that Sherk sees coming a mile off. Sherk avoids a kick to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sherk. Sherk is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kano. Sherk is breathing heavily. Sherk takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Kano cracks Sherk with a right hand to the side of the head. Kano goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Sherk gets a clinch. Kano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kano lands a nice looking body kick. Sherk fails to land with a series of punches.
Jack Kano is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kano lands with an uppercut that bounces Sherk off the cage and back into range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kano misses with a kick to the body.

Jack Kano is winning the standup battle so far. Kano swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kano catches Sherk with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! A head kick misses from Kano. Sherk displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kano throws out the jab. Excellent takedown into side control there by Sherk. Sherk tries to stand but Kano is controlling his head. Sherk has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sherk prevents Kano from escaping the position. Shawn Sherk has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kano is positioning himself to get back to half guard. You can see the frustration on Kano's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sherk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jack Kano will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Sherk looks for a takedown but Kano sprawls well. Sherk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kano thows a body shot but no joy. Kano thuds his right hand into Sherk's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kano tries a head kick but it misses.
Sherk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kano dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kano keeps the fight on the outside. Sherk moves out of range of the body kick from Kano.

Kano displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sherk. Jack Kano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Sherk. Kano lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Kano throws a sloppy head kick and Sherk moves out of range easily. Kano misses with a wild body shot. Kano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sherk won't allow Kano to get back to his feet.

Sherk shoots in looking for a takedown. Kano tries to sprawl out of it but Sherk keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kano manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Kano fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sherk is out of range.

Sherk stands and steps away. Kano gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Jack Kano is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kano pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shawn Sherk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kano connects with a nice looking jab.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Kano. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kano, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
