The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva closes the distance and clinches.
Ribeiro successfully pulls guard.
Silva stands up and waves to Ribeiro to follow him.
Thiago Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva rushes Ribeiro and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ribeiro turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ribeiro manages to end up in side control.
Silva is not content to let Ribeiro control the position.
Ribeiro is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Silva looks calm but he's in trouble here. Ribeiro gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Silva is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Ribeiro lets go of the hold and Silva can pop his arm back in it's socket.
