PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dmonray Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Voss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malapitan comes to the cage accompanied by My Time is Now. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dmonray Malapitan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Voss!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voss blocks a head kick by Malapitan.

Voss feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Voss controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Malapitan is trying to control the position but Voss postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Voss wants to sweep but no luck.

Voss has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malapitan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Malapitan wants to control from the top but Voss keeps moving.
Voss doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Voss is defending against the submission attempts here by Malapitan.
Malapitan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Malapitan is working for a kimura but Voss is defending it quite comfortably.

Voss has one foot on Malapitan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Voss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Malapitan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Voss somewhat.

Voss closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Malapitan wants to control but Voss is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Voss throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Malapitan tries to roll over but Voss keeps him under control.

Voss is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Voss slows the pace down in half guard.
Voss works his way into side control.

Voss sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Malapitan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Voss is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Malapitan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Malapitan is trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Voss swings around for an armbar but Malapitan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Voss's guard.
Malapitan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Voss swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Voss trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Voss dominated that round.

Malapitan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Donk. Malapitan catches Voss right on the button with a cross.
Voss shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Malapitan as he jumps to the side.
Voss tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Malapitan swivels and escapes.
Malapitan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Horrible takedown by Malapitan or perhaps it was just good defense by Voss which made him look bad.

Dmonray Malapitan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Voss.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Malapitan.
Voss is trying to control Malapitan's posture but Malapitan avoids it.
Voss might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Malapitan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Malapitan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Voss keeps working.

Malapitan is really struggling to control Voss but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Voss is looking for a sweep.
Voss manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Voss is keen to just control but Malapitan is a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alex Voss.

Malapitan dives in and scores a takedown into Voss's guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Malapitan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Voss sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Malapitan somewhat.

Malapitan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dmonray Malapitan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Voss working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Malapitan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Malapitan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Malapitan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Malapitan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
