The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Jackson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Esnar pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Esnar lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Esnar misses with a body shot.
Esnar throws a head kick that misses.
Esnar throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease.

That has opened up Lee Jackson's cut even more.
Esnar throws a low kick, looking for Jackson's leg but Jackson calmly moves out of range.
Esnar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Esnar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jackson moves away.

Jackson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Esnar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Esnar's guard.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Esnar keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Esnar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Esnar manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Esnar's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

In his post fight interview, Rock Esnar started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
