Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dwain Jhonson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johan Axelsson! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jhonson lands with a kick to the temple. Axelsson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Johan Axelsson has been cut. Axelsson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jhonson shoots in but no luck this time. Jhonson shoots in looking for a takedown. Axelsson tries to sprawl out of it but Jhonson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Axelsson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jhonson fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dwain Jhonson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Axelsson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Axelsson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Jhonson looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jhonson wants to control but Axelsson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Axelsson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Axelsson in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Jhonson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Axelsson!
