Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Prowse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicol Abdulgani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicol Abdulgani struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyson Prowse! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicol Abdulgani! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prowse tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abdulgani swivels and escapes. Prowse avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Prowse missing with a left hand there. Abdulgani was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Abdulgani wants to clinch. Abdulgani tries to clinch but Prowse moves away and Prowse counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Abdulgani blocks a jab. Abdulgani fails in his attempt to clinch. Abdulgani ducks under a wild hook from Prowse. Abdulgani blocks a jab. Prowse throws a series of punches but Abdulgani moves out of range. Prowse pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Abdulgani moves in looking to clinch but Prowse pushes him off. Prowse loads up on a big right hand but Abdulgani slips the punch. Abdulgani is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Prowse throws a right and a left that both miss. Prowse misses with a few strikes there.
Prowse avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Prowse throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Abdulgani was covering up waiting for the punch and Prowse finishes the takedown easily into guard. Prowse passes Abdulgani's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prowse wants to pass the guard but Abdulgani is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Prowse is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Abdulgani doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Prowse. Prowse tries to pass the half guard into mount. Abdulgani knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Prowse works his way into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prowse looking to isolate an arm here. Abdulgani doesn't see it coming and as Prowse extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Prowse!
