The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McMonster rushes Beast and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Beast blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McMonster has Beast pressed against the cage, preventing Beast from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
McMonster misses with a shot to the kidneys.

McMonster's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Beast moves out of range of the body kick from McMonster.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McMonster, right into the meat.
Shorty McMonster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McMonster looks to land a body kick but Beast moved away.
McMonster lands with a nice body kick.
McMonster throws a half hearted mid kick.
McMonster fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beast manages to avoid it.
McMonster misses with a low kick.
McMonster throws a head kick that half lands.
McMonster walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

McMonster fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Beast has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Beast misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McMonster tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beast was well out of range. Poor timing from McMonster.

McMonster pulls Beast into guard.
McMonster can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Beast controls the pace.

Beast is looking to work some ground and pound but McMonster has wrist control.

Beast is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McMonster is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McMonster has escaped and now he's on top!
Beast has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Beast working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McMonster doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McMonster manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Beast is breathing heavily.
Beast doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

McMonster tries to stand but Beast is controlling from the bottom.

Beast isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McMonster stacks Beast on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McMonster!
Beast sneaks back into half guard.
Well, if McMonster is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beast tries to kick McMonster off but McMonster keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Beast wants to get back to full guard but McMonster has mounted him!
McMonster content just to control the position here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McMonster stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Beast closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Beast lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because The Beast just wasn't active enough.
McMonster defending well as Beast loads up on a big left hand.
Beast looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McMonster is fending him off so far but Beast persists. Nope, McMonster circles away and we're back to standing.

McMonster drives through and clinches with Beast against the cage.

McMonster manages to break the clinch.
McMonster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McMonster works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Beast ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McMonster moves away.
Beast avoids the head kick by McMonster.
McMonster scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

and McMonster counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
A bone on bone clash there as Beast blocks the leg kick.
Beast shoots in looking for a takedown. McMonster tries to sprawl out of it but Beast keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McMonster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Beast is looking to take a break and control but McMonster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McMonster is looking to regain half guard here but Beast keeps moving and retains side control.

McMonster is pushing Beast's head away, looking to escape. Beast manages to hold on to the position though.
Beast wants to lay and pray for a moment but McMonster keeps working.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
McMonster is looking for a sweep.
Beast throwing strikes but McMonster manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

McMonster decides to stand back up. McMonster steps back and let's Beast get back to his feet.
McMonster lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Beast misses with an uppercut
and McMonster counters with an inside leg kick.
McMonster looks to score with a jab to the body but Beast is just out of range.
McMonster pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McMonster goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
McMonster misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McMonster tries a head kick but it misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for McMonster.
Beast is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Beast is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McMonster.
McMonster thumps Beast with a low kick.
McMonster throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McMonster throws the kick towards the body but Beast avoids it.
McMonster connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
