Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Salva Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robo Cop! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cop shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cruz but Cruz pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cruz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cruz closes the distance and clinches. Cruz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cop doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cruz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cop's guard. Cruz preventing the sweep. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cop can do anything to dispel that myth. Cruz stands up and waves to Cop to follow him. Cruz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cruz cracks Cop with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Cop with a poor takedown and Cruz counters with a left and a right that stings Cop. Salva Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robo Cop. Cruz moves away from the strike by Cop. Cruz takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Cruz!

That's one minute gone in the round. Nice shot lands for Cruz. Cruz looks to score with a jab to the body but Cop is just out of range. Cruz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Cop wants to get back to full guard but Cruz has passed into side control. Cruz looking to secure an arm triangle but Cop defends it well. Cruz tries to control but Cop wriggling away. Cruz lands with some strikes. Cruz trying to control but Cop is having none of it. Cop keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cop is now in Cruz's guard. A big mistake from Cruz there, giving up the dominant position! Cruz is breathing heavily. Cop throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Cruz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cruz wriggles free and stands up. Cop falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cruz counters with an outside leg kick.
Cruz wants to clinch. Cop shoots and misses and Cruz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cop's guard now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cruz gets to his feet. Cop looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Cruz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Cruz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cruz showed some decent athleticism there. Cruz wants to stand up but Cop is controlling the position.
Cruz postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cop to stand up. Cruz jabs Cop right on the nose. Cop blinks but takes it well. Cruz looks to land a combination but Cop avoids it well. Cruz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Cruz is working for a guillotine from mount but Cop frees his head quite easily.

It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cop regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cruz looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cruz tries to control but Cop wriggling away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Cruz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cop won't be happy with that. Cop is looking to reverse the position. Salva Cruz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cruz stands up. Cop misses with the combination.
Cop misses with an uppercut. Cruz saw that one coming. Cop has his takedown stuffed and Cruz counters with a series of strikes. Cop will be more careful next time no doubt. Cop tries to keep at a distance but Cruz has taken the fight into the clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cop wants to break free but Cruz has control.

The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Cop has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cruz is working away from the top position though. Nice strikes from Cruz there. Cruz decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Cop ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cruz moves away. Cop thuds his right hand into Cruz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Cop uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cruz. Cop misses with a takedown attempt - Cruz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cop misses with a takedown and Cruz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Cruz tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
