Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Evan Karagis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patch Thomas!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thomas looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Thomas with a nice head shot there.
Thomas is stalling in the full guard.
Karagis is trying to control the position but Thomas postures up.
Thomas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Karagis is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Karagis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Thomas scoring with punches to the head and body.
Karagis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Karagis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Karagis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Karagis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Karagis's legs - danger averted.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thomas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Thomas cracks Karagis with a solid left hand.

Thomas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Karagis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thomas defends it easily.
Thomas working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Karagis keeps moving.
Thomas keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Karagis's head.
Thomas tries to free his leg and advance position but Karagis is retaining full guard.
Thomas postures up.
Thomas stands and throws Karagis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Karagis is trying to get back to half guard.
Karagis is trying to control Thomas's posture but Thomas avoids it.
Karagis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thomas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Thomas scores with punches from side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thomas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Karagis struggling a bit here.

Thomas works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Thomas landing a few strikes.


Karagis is rocked!

Oh Karagis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Thomas lands a strong strike to the head of Karagis. That's dazed him! Thomas looking to finish here. Karagis is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Thomas lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patch Thomas!
After the fight, Patch Thomas was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
