Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elbrys Gora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Abbott Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gora comes into the arena with Cadillac Records - Howlin' Wolf Sings blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Abbott Jr!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gora misses with a jab, cross combination.
Abbott Jr scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Elbrys Gora has been cut.
Gora showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Abbott Jr.
Abbott Jr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gora looks for a takedown but Abbott Jr sprawls well.

Gora has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Abbott Jr finds it's way round the side to connect with Gora's head.
David Abbott Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abbott Jr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Abbott Jr throws out a loose jab but Gora uses good head movement to avoid it.
Abbott Jr stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Abbott Jr wants it to stay on the feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. David Abbott Jr hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Gora throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Abbott Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Gora finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Abbott Jr kicks Gora off and gets to his feet.
Abbott Jr waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gora.
Gora dives in and grabs Abbott Jr's left leg, looking for a takedown. Abbott Jr pushes down on Gora's head and hops out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gora takes a swing at Abbott Jr's ribcage but misses.

Gora throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Abbott Jr tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gora is in Abbott Jr's guard.

Abbott Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gora. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gora tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gora has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gora wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Abbott Jr, who protects the arm well.

Gora goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Abbott Jr has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gora but great work by Abbott Jr.

Elbrys Gora overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gora is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Abbott Jr defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Gora is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Abbott Jr's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Abbott Jr's back!
