Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Medina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Medina comes to the cage accompanied by LA BAMBA. Jim Beckett is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medina tries for a takedown but Beckett circles away easily
and Beckett counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Medina misses with a head kick.

Beckett looking to score a takedown here. Medina is defending well but Beckett drives through and ends up in Medina's guard.

Beckett trying to control but Medina is working from the bottom.
Beckett slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Medina has control of Beckett's left arm, preventing Beckett from doing any damage.
Beckett makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Beckett scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Beckett won't allow Medina to sweep him here.
Medina thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Beckett accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Medina throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Medina wants to get back to his feet but Beckett is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Beckett won't allow Medina to sweep him here.
Beckett throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Medina looking for a sweep. Not yet Medina, not yet.
Beckett trying to control the position from guard on top but Medina is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Beckett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Beckett's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Medina is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Beckett is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jim Beckett wasn't active enough on the ground.
Medina misses the shot to the body.

Beckett closes the distance and clinches.

Medina is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Beckett is defending well for now.
Beckett presses Medina against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Medina wants to break free but Beckett has control.
Beckett gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Medina.
Medina can't break the clinch.

Beckett lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Beckett lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Medina backwards.
Medina fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Medina. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Medina is trying to maintain a safe position but Beckett gets an underhook and turns Medina into the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Beckett.
A short uppercut from Beckett.
Beckett lands a shot to the body.
Medina is breathing heavily.
Beckett lands a hook that snaps the head of Medina backwards.
Beckett lands a left hand that snaps the head of Medina backwards.

Medina escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Medina shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Beckett counters with a shoot takedown. Medina fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Beckett wants to control from the top but Medina keeps moving.
Beckett scoring with punches to the head and body.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Beckett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Beckett chips away with some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Beckett is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Beckett drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Beckett as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Medina screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Beckett! Nice submission victory there!
