Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jason McNeil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hugo Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martinez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Martinez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McNeil tries to hold on but Martinez pushes him away.
McNeil manages to regain half guard. Good work.

McNeil looking for submissions off his back.

Martinez is working for a submission of some sort.
Martinez tries to stand and escape but McNeil is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McNeil is trying to control but Martinez passes into side control!
Martinez advances to full mount.
Martinez trying to control but McNeil is having none of it.
Martinez lands a nice shot to the head.
Martinez tries to control but McNeil wriggling away.
McNeil tries to hold on but Martinez postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martinez tries to control but McNeil wriggling away.
McNeil is wriggling around trying to escape.
McNeil is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Martinez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Poor strikes thrown by Martinez there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Martinez stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Martinez looks to land a left hand but McNeil moved out of range nicely.
Martinez misses with an uppercut. McNeil saw that one coming.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McNeil tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Martinez swivels and escapes.

Martinez pushes McNeil up against the ropes in a clinch.
McNeil tries to pull guard but Martinez forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.

McNeil wants the takedown. Martinez is fighting it off but McNeil persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Martinez's guard against the ropes.
Martinez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McNeil!
Martinez misses with some ground and pound and McNeil recovers position to half guard.
Martinez is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Martinez is just content to waste time from the top position. McNeil takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Martinez trying to control but McNeil is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McNeil throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McNeil is trying to control the position but Martinez postures up.
Martinez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Martinez stands and throws McNeil's legs to the side, diving into side control.
McNeil prevents Martinez from improving position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McNeil gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugo Martinez dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Martinez moves into the clinch.
McNeil tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McNeil tries for a takedown. No joy.
McNeil tries to stall but Martinez uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
McNeil blocking some punches.
McNeil jumps guard but Martinez turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason McNeil. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McNeil blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by McNeil.
Martinez misses with an elbow strike.

McNeil pulls Martinez into guard.
Martinez wants to pass the guard but McNeil is keeping the position.
Hugo Martinez has got the better of the ground game so far.

McNeil looking for a triangle here. Martinez is fighting it but it looks tight! McNeil pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Martinez is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jason McNeil!
