Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Springsteen! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Springsteen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Miller counters with a single leg into guard. Springsteen didn't expect that. Springsteen trying to keep a closed guard but Miller is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Miller wants to pass the guard but Springsteen is keeping the position. Springsteen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Miller is controlling him. Miller passes Springsteen's left leg - he's now in half guard. Miller lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Miller passes the guard and advances to mount! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Springsteen is working to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller is working for a guillotine from mount but Springsteen frees his head quite easily.
Miller has control of Springsteen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Springsteen regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Springsteen wants to hold on but Miller pushes him away. Springsteen prevents Miller from taking his back. Springsteen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
It looks like Paul Springsteen has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Springsteen tries to hold on but Miller postures up. Miller is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Springsteen is surviving well by controlling Miller's body position as best he can. Miller looking for a guillotine from mount but Springsteen is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Springsteen is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Miller jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Springsteen manages to avoid the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Springsteen can't do much from the bottom here. Springsteen sneaks back into half guard. Miller prevents Springsteen from standing back up.
Miller is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Miller works his foot free and advances to mount. Springsteen tries to hold on but Miller postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Springsteen can do anything to dispel that myth. Springsteen trying desperately to get to his feet.
BOOM! Miller connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Springsteen tries to hold on but Miller postures up. Springsteen is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Miller locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Springsteen is forced to tap!
