Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruce Jai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Draw Bludd! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bludd scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Bludd working Jai over with strikes. Bludd lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Bludd wants to work for an arm triangle but Jai is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jai on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Jai actively working from the bottom here. Bludd working over Jai with some ground and pound. Bludd slips a nice elbow through Jai's hands, connecting with Jai's forehead. Jai has hold of Bludd's hands but Bludd slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Bludd working the head and body with strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bludd landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Bludd working Jai over with strikes. Jai taking some punishment here, with Bludd in his half guard. Bludd wants to control but Jai is keeping him busy. Bludd tries to pass to full mount but Jai defends it. Jai is breathing heavily. Bludd looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bludd drops an elbow to the side of Jai's head. Jai is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bludd scores with a couple of nice shots. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bludd connects with a nice short shot to Jai's temple. Jai is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bludd scores with a couple of nice shots. Ground and pound from Bludd. Bludd winds up and cracks Jai with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Bludd lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Bludd is nestled in close to Jai, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Bludd lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Bludd passes to side control. Bludd landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jai gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Bludd pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bludd working Jai over with strikes here. Bludd lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jai is rocked! Jai is bucking up trying to escape but Bludd cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Oh Jai is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Bludd looking to control and managing it successfully. Bludd raining down shots from the mount! Bludd drops a big elbow. That's hurt Jai! More shots from Bludd and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Draw Bludd! Draw Bludd very nearly forgot to thank [GTI] Divine Clothing amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name.
