Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nova Summer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jhon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Bloodwork. Jhon Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nova Summer!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jhon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones avoids the head kick by Summer.
Jones looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Summer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Summer misses with a takedown

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Summer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Summer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Summer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
Summer trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Summer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Summer has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Summer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Summer gets slowly back to his feet.

No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Summer shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A head kick from Summer lands but Jones takes it in his stride.

Summer rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Summer tries to circle away but Jones has him pinned against the cage.

Jones turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Summer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jones trying to control the position but Summer is working away.
Summer controls the position for a moment.
Summer sneaks back into half guard.
Summer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Summer looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Summer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Summer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.
Jones stalling away here and it's allowed Summer to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Summer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Summer looking for a sweep. Not yet Summer, not yet.
Jones postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nova Summer dominated that round.
That's time! Summer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Summer passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jones!
Summer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Summer putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Summer wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Summer is looking to stand but Summer has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Summer trying to control but Jones is having none of it.

Summer working the ground and pound effectively.
Poor strikes thrown by Summer there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jones is trying desperately to improve position.
Summer trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Summer looking for a guillotine from mount but Jones is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nova Summer dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Summer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Summer shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Summer is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Summer is looking to slow Jones down with leg kicks.
Summer shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Summer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Summer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.

Summer fails with a takedown attempt.
Summer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Summer forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.

Jones gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Summer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Summer's legs - danger averted.
Summer throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Summer wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Summer doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Summer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Summer doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Jones paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Summer - great work!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nova Summer!
