Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, True Vengeance! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marvin Hagler! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hagler misses with a body kick. Hagler avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hagler tried to score with a low kick but Vengeance checks it. Vengeance lands with a shot to the body. Vengeance looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Hagler throws a leg kick but Vengeance checks it. Hagler is looking to clinch. Hagler dodges the punch combination from Vengeance.
Vengeance misses with a straight right. Vengeance swings for the body but Hagler moves out of range.
Hagler thumps Vengeance with a low kick. Vengeance closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hagler's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hagler looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vengeance is one step ahead there. Hagler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vengeance. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hagler seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Vengeance thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hagler keeping full guard, as Vengeance tries to pass. Vengeance is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hagler can do anything to dispel that myth. Vengeance drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hagler dives on top into guard. Vengeance looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Vengeance pushes a forearm under Hagler's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hagler is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
