And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Grant!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards lands a two punch combo.
Richards stuffs the takedown.
Richards goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sloppy strikes from Richards. Those never looked like landing.
Grant shoots and misses
and Richards counters with a three punch combo that has Grant backing up. Grant nods at Richards to acknowledge the strikes.
Grant lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Richards circles away quickly and effectively.
Richards scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Richards misses with the combination.

Richards moves into the clinch.

Richards pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Richards stuffs the takedown.
Clark Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Grant.

Grant looks for a takedown but Richards sprawls well.
Grant gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Grant needs to keep his hands up - Richards had a free shot at his head there.

enabling Richards to counter with a crisp jab.
Richards moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Richards shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Grant eats them both and turns towards Richards to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Grant tries for a takedown but Richards sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Richards pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Grant back to the cage. Richards follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Grant throws a body punch but Richards moves out of range.

Grant shoots in looking for a takedown. Richards tries to sprawl out of it but Grant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Richards manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Richards counters with a left and a right that stings Grant.

and Richards counters with a nice low kick that buckles Grant's knee momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Richards defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Grant.
Richards darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Grant shoots in for a takedown but Richards shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Richards throws a combination. Grant tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Richards lands with an overhand left.
Richards throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Grant.

Grant has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Richards's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Richards fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Horrible takedown by Grant or perhaps it was just good defense by Richards which made him look bad.
Grant tries to score a power double leg takedown but Richards sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Grant somewhat.

Grant's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Richards connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Grant scrambles back to his feet.

Richards feints a jab promting Grant to slip. Richards then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Grant slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Grant takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Grant shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Grant shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Richards as he avoids it easily.

Richards lands a leg kick that knocks Grant off balance momentarily.
Richards throws a nice looking combination but Grant bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Richards connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Grant changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Richards tries to avoid it but Grant manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Richards to the ground. Richards escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Grant takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Richards slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Grant shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Richards as he jumps to the side.
Richards tests Grant's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Richards lands a nice hook to Grant's body. Grant takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Clark Richards is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Richards connects with a good right hand that stumbles Grant. Grant circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Richards, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
