3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Horse! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mercer bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Mercer lands with a nice body kick. Horse takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Mercer is looking to land body kicks. Mercer drives through and clinches with Horse against the cage.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Horse has eaten all the pies! Mercer lands an elbow just above Horse 's eye. Horse takes a knee right on the jaw!
Horse looking to stall.
Mercer lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Crazy Horse has been cut. Mercer connects with a knee to the head.
Horse tries to stall but Mercer uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Mercer throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Horse blocks it with crossed arms.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mercer trying to land knees to the body.
Mercer lands a nice elbow. Horse trying to control the position but instead, Mercer has worked for underhooks and has pushed Horse into the cage. Mercer scores with a knee to the head.
Horse is rocked! Horse avoids the elbow strike from Mercer, against the cage.
Horse is still on wobbly legs! Can Mercer finish him? Horse blocks an elbow strike. Horse avoids a wild elbow strike from Mercer. Horse avoids a wild elbow strike from Mercer. Mercer throws an elbow that misses.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mercer just misses with a elbow thrown towards Horse's brow. Mercer has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Horse - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Mercer, and another! Horse is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Stu Mercer! Stu Mercer was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
