Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Forrest Gryphen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Haral Dir! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Dir looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Dir tries to bum rush Gryphen with a series of wild strikes but Gryphen uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Dir fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dir gets tackled into the cage by Gryphen. Gryphen maintains the clinch. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gryphen has Dir pressed against the cage, preventing Dir from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Gryphen misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dir.

Dir has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gryphen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. With the fighters up against the cage, Gryphen throws an elbow but misses. A head punch on the inside from Gryphen fails to land. Dir is looking to take this one to the mat. Forrest Gryphen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Haral Dir. Gryphen tries a body shot but Dir blocks it.

Gryphen is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dir is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Gryphen to the mat. Gryphen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Gryphen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dir! Dir tries to reverse the position but Gryphen maintains control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gryphen trying to control but Dir is having none of it. Gryphen will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dir up against the cage. Gryphen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Dir tries to stall but Gryphen uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

A battle for position here, against the cage. Dir wants the takedown. Gryphen is fighting it off but Dir persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gryphen's guard against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gryphen has an active guard here but Dir has managed to pass into half guard.
Dir is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Dir working over Gryphen with some ground and pound. Gryphen looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Gryphen tries to clinch but Dir moves out of range. Dir clinches up with Gryphen and pushes him back against the cage. Gryphen landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Dir is trying to drag Gryphen to the mat but Gryphen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Gryphen taking a breather. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dir is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gryphen can't fight it off and eventually Dir manages to take the fight to the floor. Gryphen looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Haral Dir will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Haral Dir's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Gryphen throws a quick inside leg kick. Gryphen tries to clinch but Dir moves out of range. Dir is looking to clinch but Gryphen is avoiding it.
Dir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gryphen swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gryphen lands a jab-cross combination. Gryphen throws a chopping leg kick but Dir manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Gryphen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A chopping leg kick lands by Gryphen. Gryphen lands a head kick. Dir smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Good leg kick by Gryphen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
