Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jax Saxon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom McGettigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGettigan has chosen Knifeman - The Bronx as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jax Saxon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tom McGettigan! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the liver by McGettigan. Beautiful body shot. Saxon with a poor takedown and McGettigan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. McGettigan cracks a nice hook into Saxon's ribs. McGettigan lands with a straight right. Saxon didn't see that one coming. McGettigan displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Jax Saxon has been cut. Saxon shoots in and drives through. McGettigan sprawls well. McGettigan jabs Saxon right on the nose. Saxon blinks but takes it well. McGettigan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Saxon fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jax Saxon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Saxon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McGettigan throws out a powerful jab. Saxon misses with a double jab
and McGettigan counters with a stiff right hand. McGettigan lands with a good body shot. Saxon fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A slapping leg kick lands for McGettigan.

That's one minute gone in the round. Saxon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Saxon doesn't succeed with the takedown and McGettigan counters with a nice uppercut. An inside leg kick lands from McGettigan. Saxon shoots and misses and McGettigan counters with a lovely straight right hand! Saxon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Saxon closes the distance and clinches up with McGettigan, looking for a takedown. Saxon pushes McGettigan against the cage but McGettigan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McGettigan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McGettigan with a jab. McGettigan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Saxon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Saxon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! No luck with that takedown attempt from Saxon. A head kick misses from McGettigan. McGettigan jabs Saxon to the body, keeping him at a distance. Saxon has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by McGettigan. Saxon is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saxon misses with a takedown and Saxon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McGettigan lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. McGettigan lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. McGettigan scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Decent striking displayed by McGettigan there. McGettigan stuns Saxon with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. McGettigan lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
McGettigan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. McGettigan lands with a straight right. Saxon didn't see that one coming. Saxon shoots and misses and McGettigan counters with a leg kick. McGettigan is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Saxon had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Saxon looks to throw the jab but McGettigan is out of range. Saxon avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGettigan leaves Saxon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saxon sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. McGettigan lunges at Saxon with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Saxon's hand. Saxon takes a body punch but keeps moving. McGettigan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Saxon takes a shot right to the bread basket. Tom McGettigan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McGettigan thows a body kick. Saxon tries to catch it but that hurt him. Saxon shoots and misses and McGettigan counters with an inside leg kick. Donk. McGettigan catches Saxon right on the button with a cross. McGettigan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A decent looking body kick lands there for McGettigan. Jax Saxon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Saxon shoots and misses and McGettigan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. McGettigan sizes up Saxon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. McGettigan digs a good hook to Saxon's body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. McGettigan scores with a hook. McGettigan lands with a shot to the body. McGettigan lands a jab to Saxon's midsection. McGettigan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McGettigan duly obliges.
Jax Saxon's cut is getting worse. McGettigan cracks Saxon with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. McGettigan scores with a crisp jab that stopped Saxon in his tracks. A left and a right from McGettigan both land. Nice combination. Nice body punch from McGettigan. McGettigan scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Saxon takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McGettigan lands a really nice looking cross but Saxon seems unphased.
Saxon is rocked! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A jab from McGettigan finds it's way through Saxon's defenses. Oh Saxon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Saxon misses with a takedown attempt and McGettigan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Saxon avoids the body shot from McGettigan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Saxon tries to score a power double leg takedown but McGettigan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Saxon somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jax Saxon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Saxon takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
McGettigan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Saxon closes this distance looking for a takedown but McGettigan circles away. McGettigan jabs at Saxon's body. Saxon shoots in looking for a takedown. McGettigan tries to sprawl out of it but Saxon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGettigan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Saxon might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McGettigan scores with a punch to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking body kick lands there for McGettigan. McGettigan sizes up Saxon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Saxon with a lazy takedown attempt and McGettigan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A left lands for McGettigan. McGettigan scoring well with a low kick there.
Saxon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and McGettigan counters with a nice leg kick. A shot to the liver by McGettigan. Beautiful body shot. Jax Saxon's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. McGettigan lands a jab to Saxon's midsection. Saxon looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

McGettigan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Jax Saxon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McGettigan scores with a hook. McGettigan scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Saxon takes one on the button. McGettigan bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Saxon's head backwards. Saxon walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Saxon on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. McGettigan lands a nice hook to Saxon's body. Saxon takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Saxon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. McGettigan has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McGettigan moves into range and connects with a jab. McGettigan scores with a nice strike.
Jeez, Jax Saxon's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Saxon takes a shot right to the bread basket. Saxon is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. A punch lands to the side of Saxon 's head but he takes it in his stride. McGettigan lands with a nice body kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGettigan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Saxon stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Saxon has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McGettigan finds it's way round the side to connect with Saxon's head. Oooooh!!! McGettigan has knocked Saxon down with a huge combo! McGettigan steps away and waves a wobbly Saxon back to his feet! This one might not go much longer! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGettigan throws a nice inside leg kick. McGettigan stuns Saxon with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Saxon takes a jab right on the kisser.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McGettigan, right into the meat.
McGettigan closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Saxon out cold! Saxon corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
