Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Cavalera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Manu Okoro! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cavalera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Cavalera slips nicely into half guard. Cavalera is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Okoro defends it well. Cavalera tries to pass the half guard into mount. Okoro knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Cavalera not landing any meaningful shots this time. Okoro is trying to control but can't.
Cavalera is pressing down on Okoro's thigh, looking to free his foot. Okoro is holding on for now. Cavalera is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Okoro is just riding it out for now. Cavalera eventually gives up the hold. Cavalera thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Okoro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cavalera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okoro wants to control but Cavalera is keeping busy.
Cavalera with the ground and pound but Okoro uses the opportunity to regain guard. Okoro wants to sweep but no luck. Cavalera working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cavalera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cavalera forces his way into half guard. Cavalera is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cavalera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Okoro desperately trying to maintain half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cavalera thows a huge punch but Okoro dodges it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cavalera tries to pass to full mount but Okoro defends it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cavalera prevents Okoro from improving his position. Cavalera seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cavalera trying to control but Okoro is working from the bottom. Cavalera sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Okoro's guard. Cavalera winds up and cracks Okoro with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Cavalera is pressing down on Okoro's thigh, looking to free his foot. Okoro is holding on for now. Okoro tries to get to full guard but Cavalera has control of the leg. Cavalera in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Okoro tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Cavalera!
