Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roshihiro Funkiunga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Caesar!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Funkiunga decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Caesar wants to improve his position but Funkiunga is controlling well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Caesar can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Funkiunga has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Funkiunga throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Caesar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Caesar has momentary wrist control but Funkiunga slips an elbow through the middle.

Funkiunga drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Caesar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Funkiunga has Caesar in his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Caesar wants to control from the top but Funkiunga keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Funkiunga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Caesar is defended easily by Funkiunga.

and Funkiunga counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Roshihiro Funkiunga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Caesar.

Funkiunga shoots in but Caesar avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Funkiunga shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Caesar but Caesar pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Funkiunga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Funkiunga wants it to stay on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Caesar or perhaps it was just good defense by Funkiunga which made him look bad.
Caesar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Funkiunga tries to avoid it but Caesar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Funkiunga to the ground. Funkiunga escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Caesar.

Caesar swats away the attempt to clinch by Funkiunga.
Funkiunga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Caesar's waist but Caesar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Funkiunga off to one side.

Funkiunga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Caesar as he jumps to the side.
Funkiunga does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Caesar shoots in but no luck this time.

Funkiunga shoots in for a takedown but Caesar shows good takedown defense.
Caesar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Caesar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Funkiunga swivels and escapes.
Funkiunga will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Roshihiro Funkiunga is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Funkiunga attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Caesar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Caesar lands in his opponent's guard.
Caesar wants to control from the top but Funkiunga keeps moving.

Caesar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Caesar looking to sit in guard and control but Funkiunga gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
