Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Takashi Yamamoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vitor Freire! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamamoto closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
It looks like Takashi Yamamoto has been cut. Freire throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yamamoto stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Yamamoto takes one on the button. Freire misses with a double jab
and Yamamoto counters with a single leg into guard. Freire didn't expect that. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Yamamoto is looking to stand up but Freire won't let him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Freire keeping moving, preventing Yamamoto from controlling successfully. Freire is trying to control the position but Yamamoto postures up. Yamamoto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Yamamoto prevents Freire from getting back to his feet. Yamamoto looking to pass the guard. Yamamoto gets to his feet. Freire looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's one minute gone in the round. Freire throws a one two combo.
Freire scores with a body shot.
Yamamoto swats away the attempt to clinch by Freire. Freire swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Freire moves into range and connects with a jab. Yamamoto takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Freire moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Yamamoto swats away the attempt to clinch by Freire. Yamamoto takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Freire scores with a jab. Yamamoto acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Yamamoto is rocked! Freire is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The fight moves into the clinch position. Oh Yamamoto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Yamamoto manages to break the clinch.
Yamamoto seems to have got his legs back now. Yamamoto moves into range and clinches up with Freire. Yamamoto dodges an elbow strike from Freire.

Nice straight punches there by Freire. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Freire. Yamamoto walks into a left hand. Freire catches Yamamoto with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Freire feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Yamamotos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Freire comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Freire lands a nice looking body shot.
Freire works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Freire connects with a body shot that sends Yamamoto's belly button to the back. Vitor Freire is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Yamamoto is breathing heavily. Freire fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Freire with a body punch. A glancing blow. Freire with a jab. Freire slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Yamamoto avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Yamamoto walks straight into a right hand from Freire - that's dropped him! Freire jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Yamamoto from any more punishment! Yamamoto complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Vitor Freire!
