0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Ricardo! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ricardo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! A looping hook to the body misses from Silva. Ricardo does a little dance to reset his feet. Silva throws a wild body kick that Ricardo sees coming a mile off. Ricardo swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva. Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ricardo sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Silva tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Silva is trying to control. Ricardo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Ricardo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ricardo is trying to escape the mount.

Ricardo tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ricardo is trying to escape the mount.
Silva landing strikes from the mount. Silva breaks from Ricardo's wrist control and lands an elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva controlling from the full mount. Silva is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ricardo is surviving well by controlling Silva's body position as best he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Carlos Silva. Excellent takedown into side control there by Silva. Silva is looking to take a break and control but Ricardo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva just content to control the position.

Ricardo wants to get back to full guard but Silva has mounted him! The referee warns Ricardo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Silva just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ricardo on the ground. Ricardo prevents Silva from getting a body triangle. Silva gets his hands free as Ricardo looks to control.

Ricardo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Silva wants to control the pace but Ricardo is squirming around nicely. Ricardo wants to hold on but Silva pushes him away. Silva looking to control but Ricardo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Silva controlling from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Ricardo tries to improve his position but instead Silva has taken his back! Ricardo breaks Silva's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ricardo wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Silva dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Ricardo tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ricardo goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Ricardo tries to sprawl but Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard. Silva works his foot free and advances to mount. Ricardo is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea. Silva lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Ricardo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva trying to control but Ricardo is having none of it. Ricardo defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Silva. Silva scoring with strikes but Ricardo is staying in there. Silva controlling from the full mount. Ricardo tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.

Silva landing shots from mount. Silva raining down hammerfists from mount. Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ricardo is looking to escape. Ricardo reaches up to try and control the position but Silva seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ricardo rolls and tries to escape and now Silva has his back!
Ricardo wants to control his opponent's hands but Silva gets his hands free. Silva patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Silva is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ricardo can do to turn this around? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ricardo rolls, trying to escape but Silva keeps control of the position.

Ricardo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Silva biding his time, controlling Ricardo. Ricardo wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ricardo is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Silva gets his way!
Silva is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Ricardo up.

Ronaldo Ricardo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ricardo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Silva working a defensive guard here.
Carlos Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ricardo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos Silva showed his dominance in that final round. Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
