Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Montooth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Guertin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Montooth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Guertin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montooth wants to clinch.
Guertin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Guertin has managed to clinch.
Montooth is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Montooth tries to pull guard but Guertin forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Guertin breaks the clinch.
Montooth tries to close the distance and clinch up but Guertin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Montooth looks to land a right hand but Guertin moved out of range.
Montooth throws a body punch but Guertin moves out of range.

Montooth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Montooth misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Guertin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Guertin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Montooth.

Guertin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Guertin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Guertin is pulling down on Montooth's head. It's preventing any offense from Montooth, at least for the moment.
Montooth throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Guertin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Montooth's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Guertin has control of Montooth's left arm, preventing Montooth from doing any damage.
Montooth could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Montooth missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Guertin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Montooth knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Guertin on the ground.
Guertin works his way into full mount!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Montooth is bucking up trying to escape but Guertin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Guertin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Guertin gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guertin controlling the position well here. Montooth rolled but Guertin kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Montooth drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Guertin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Montooth has Guertin in his guard.

Guertin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Guertin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Montooth moves to clinch but Guertin breaks away

and Guertin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Montooth is in trouble now - Guertin has advanced to mount!

Guertin with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Guertin postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Montooth looks a forlorn figure.

Guertin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sam Guertin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Guertin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Montooth napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Guertin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Montooth tries to lock up and control but Guertin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Guertin has hold of Montooth's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Montooth manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Guertin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Montooth can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Guertin postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Montooth looks a forlorn figure.

Guertin is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Guertin rushes Montooth and presses him up against the cage.

Guertin lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Guertin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Guertin quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Guertin but it's paid off an Montooth is forced to tap! Nice work by Guertin.
