The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowell misses with a body kick.
Cowell shoots for a double leg takedown but Rugowski sprawls well. He's pushed Cowell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rugowski rushes Cowell and presses him up against the cage.
Cowell misses with the head strike.
Rugowski gets through Cowell's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Rugowski lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Cowell backwards.
Rugowski works on Cowell's body with a couple of short punches.
Cowell looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rugowski lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Rugowski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rugowski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cowell.
Cowell misses with a few strikes there.
Rugowski avoids a kick to the body.
Rugowski lands the left hand.
Rugowski gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rugowski stalling the fight.
Rugowski breaks the clinch.
Cowell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rugowski as he jumps to the side.
Cowell throws out a loose jab but Rugowski uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rugowski tries to clinch but Cowell is having none of it.
Cowell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rugowski was well out of range. Poor timing from Cowell.
Rugowski lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Anderson Cowell has been cut.
Rugowski defending well as Cowell loads up on a big left hand.
Cowell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rugowski avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rugowski is looking to clinch but Cowell is avoiding it.
Cowell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rugowski tries to avoid it but Cowell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rugowski to the ground. Rugowski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bubba Rugowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Cowell.
Cowell misses with a right hand
and Rugowski counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rugowski fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cowell, pushing him back against the cage.
Rugowski's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rugowski darts in and clinches Cowell up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rugowski works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Cowell has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rugowski avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Rugowski manages to break the clinch.
Cowell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rugowski tries to clinch but Cowell is having none of it.
A punch lands to the side of Cowell 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A swing and a miss from Cowell.
Rugowski closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rugowski lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Cowell is trying to pull guard but Rugowski has him pressed against the cage.
Rugowski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice takedown defense from Rugowski. No joy for Cowell on that attempt.
Cowell shoots and misses
letting Rugowski counter with a right hand.
Rugowski tries to clinch up but Cowell circles away and keeps his distance.
Rugowski catches Cowell with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Cowell forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
