Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyon Okiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hitmon Lee!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okiro misses with a double jab.
Okiro lands a right hook to the body.
Lee keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Okiro.
The fight stays on the outside here - Okiro looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The fighters circling - Okiro throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lee avoids a kick to the body.
Okiro checks a low kick from Lee.
Lee moves out of range as Okiro throws a body kick.

Okiro bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Okiro lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Okiro which made him look bad.
Lee lunges at Okiro with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Okiro's hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lee connects with a single shot there.
Okiro throws a half hearted mid kick.
Okiro slips under a jab from Lee.
Lee thuds a left hand into Okiro's body.
Lee takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Lee misses with a wild combination.
Okiro avoids the body shot from Lee.
Lee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Lee drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Okiro gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Okiro is squirming around, avoiding Lee's attempts to control the action.

Okiro slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Okiro regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lee.
Lee throws a strike but Okiro rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lyon Okiro will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
A combination from Okiro does no damage.
Okiro cracks Lee with a right hand to the side of the head.

Lee lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Good leg kick by Okiro there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Okiro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Okiro throws a right hand that misses
and Lee counters with an inside leg kick.
Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Okiro is refusing to be controlled, as Lee sits in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lee lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Okiro is trying to get back to full guard.
Okiro regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lee.
Okiro keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully.

Lee might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Okiro kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Okiro tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lee connects with a couple of short punches.
Okiro is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lee scores with a kick to the midsection.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lee throws a combination. Okiro tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Lee swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Okiro blocks a head kick by Lee.
Okiro moves in looking to clinch but Lee pushes him off.
Lee takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Okiro scores with a kick to the body.
Okiro tries to clinch but Lee is having none of it.
Okiro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lyon Okiro is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Okiro moves away.
Okiro takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Okiro moves out of range of the strikes.
Okiro misses with a wild body shot.
Lee scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Okiro manages to avoid it.

Lee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Okiro is in a horrible position here. Lee smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hitmon Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Hitmon Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Okiro has closed the distance and engaged Lee in a clinch.

Okiro takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Okiro doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Okiro throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lee lands with a right hand.

Lee ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Lee scores with a nice head shot.
Lyon Okiro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lee looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Lee lands a nice looking body kick.

and Okiro cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice straight punches there by Lee. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lee.
Okiro jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Okiro fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lee misses with a body kick.
Okiro takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Okiro's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lee connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Okiro scrambles back to his feet.
Lee misses the jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Okiro.

Okiro needs to keep his hands up - Lee had a free shot at his head there.
Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lee lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee thuds a left hand into Okiro's body.
Okiro misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Okiro takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Okiro looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Hitmon Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Hitmon Lee started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
