Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Lose Yourself. Oliver is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter Sandman-Metallica. Ray Oliver is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Davis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ray Oliver!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis throws a leg kick

and Oliver counters with a nice double leg into side control. Davis won't be happy with that.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Oliver tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Davis tries to buck Oliver off but Oliver is having none of it.
Davis is trying to work for a sweep but Oliver has mounted him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Oliver controlling his opponent.
Oliver looking to control but Davis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davis is trying desperately to improve position.
Oliver avoids the attempt from Davis to control.

Oliver sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Davis is in all sorts of trouble here.
Davis is working hard here to advance position.
Davis tries to hold on but Oliver postures up.

Oliver jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Davis manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Davis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Oliver off and has taken his back!

Davis patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Oliver is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Davis off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Oliver tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Davis avoids the attempt from Oliver to control.

Oliver sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Oliver is just riding it out for now. Davis eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis wants to control but Oliver is keeping him busy.

Davis is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Oliver has managed to free his arm - good work.

Davis is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oliver is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back!

Oliver has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Davis has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Oliver lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Oliver is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Oliver is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Davis knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Davis for a finish.
Davis rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Davis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Davis wants to get back to full guard but Oliver has passed into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Oliver is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Oliver seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davis is trying to maintain the position but Oliver is very close to passing his half guard.
Davis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Oliver dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Oliver has managed to clinch.

Oliver has Davis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Oliver pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Davis tumbling to the mat - Oliver dives into Davis's guard.
Ray Oliver has got the better of the ground game so far.
Oliver won't allow Davis to get back to his feet.
Oliver trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Davis looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Oliver has picked Davis up and slammed him! Davis can't keep hold of the triangle and Oliver manages to pass to side control!

Davis tries to buck Oliver off but Oliver is having none of it.
Davis manages to get back to half guard.
Davis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Oliver is working away from the top position though.
Oliver works his way into full mount!
Davis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Davis has left one of his arms exposed and Oliver doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Davis screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ray Oliver!
