PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Beast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Sapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Beast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Sapp!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sapp enables Beast to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sapp manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Sapp is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Beast manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Sapp won't allow Beast to sweep him here.
Sapp postures up.
Sapp showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Beast looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sapp with a flurry of punches that miss.
Beast might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sapp is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bob Sapp wasn't active enough on the ground.

Sapp closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sapp has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Beast!
Sapp content just to control the position here.
Sapp's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Beast is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sapp looking to control and managing it successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bob Sapp wasn't active enough on the ground.

Sapp instigates a clinch.

Beast jumps guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beast is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sapp stays in close to Beast's body and controls the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sapp chips away with some ground and pound.
Sapp working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Sapp seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Beast wants to get back to his feet but Sapp is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sapp controlling from the top position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bob Sapp wasn't active enough on the ground.

Sapp throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Beast was covering up waiting for the punch and Sapp finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sapp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beast. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Beast has an active guard here but Sapp has managed to pass into half guard.
Beast is breathing heavily.
Beast is trying to maintain the position but Sapp is very close to passing his half guard.
Sapp sitting and controlling from the half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beast tries to kick Sapp off but Sapp keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Beast has hold of Sapp's hands but Sapp slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sapp in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Sapp dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Beast swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Sapp closes the distance and pushes Beast back into the cage.

Beast pulls guard successfully.
Sapp controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Sapp postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bob Sapp.

Sapp closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Beast quickly recovers to half guard.
Beast is in trouble now - Sapp has advanced to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
BOOM! Sapp connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Sapp cracks Beast with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


Beast is rocked!
Sapp drops a big elbow. That's hurt Beast! More shots from Sapp and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Sapp!
