Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Lisbon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas Jones is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Lisbon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thomas Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like George Lisbon has been cut.
Lisbon looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lisbon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lisbon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lisbon.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Lisbon which made him look bad.

Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Lisbon circles away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones tries to stand and escape but Lisbon is controlling the position.
Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Lisbon is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Lisbon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lisbon smiles and moves away.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lisbon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lisbon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
Jones connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Lisbon dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Lisbon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jones has Lisbon up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones works on Lisbon's body with a couple of short punches.
Jones fails to pull guard.
Lisbon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jones shoots in for a takedown but Lisbon shows good takedown defense.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lisbon tries to hold on but Jones pushes him away.

Jones lands a big shot there that rocks Lisbon but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jones jumps guard and drags Lisbon to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lisbon pinned against the cage. Lisbon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A punch combination from Jones misses.
Lisbon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones.

Thomas Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

George Lisbon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Jones.

Jones is pulling down on Lisbon's head. It's preventing any offense from Lisbon, at least for the moment.

Jones has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lisbon off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lisbon counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lisbon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.
Lisbon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lisbon tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Jones tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Thomas Jones.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
