Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alberto Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlo comes to the cage accompanied by NFG-Anthem for the Unwanted. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Carlo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alberto Lopez! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from Lopez misses the target. Lopez shoots in but Carlo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Lopez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The fight stays on the outside here - Lopez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Lopez tries to clinch but Carlo moves out of range. Lopez tries for a takedown but Carlo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jim Carlo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alberto Lopez. Carlo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lopez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Carlo wants to get back to full guard. Lopez thows a huge punch but Carlo dodges it nicely.
Carlo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Carlo wants to control but Lopez is keeping busy.
Lopez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carlo's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Carlo manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Lopez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Carlo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lopez slips nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lopez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Carlo has managed to free his arm - good work. Lopez prevents Carlo from improving his position. Lopez thows a huge punch but Carlo dodges it nicely.
Lopez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Nice strikes from Lopez there. Lopez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lopez thows a huge punch but Carlo dodges it nicely.
Lopez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Lopez passes to side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Carlo taking a bit of punishment here - Lopez scoring with strikes. Lopez works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Lopez landing a few strikes. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lopez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Carlo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Lopez is looking for a sweep. Carlo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Carlo missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Lopez is defending against the submission attempts here by Carlo.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Lopez defend it? Carlo steps over the head and cranks it - Lopez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Carlo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jim Carlo! An intense looking Jim Carlo took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I want to thank Boomerang!! for helping me on my career.
