Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Manoski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roman Manoski!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manoski tries to clinch but Diaz is having none of it.

Diaz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Manoski, pushing him back against the cage.

Manoski pulls guard successfully.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Manoski is on top in guard.
Manoski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Diaz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Manoski is controlling him.
Diaz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diaz tries to get out of the position.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Manoski defends well.

Manoski wants to get up but he can't break Diaz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Diaz wants to control the position but Manoski says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Diaz is looking for a sweep. Manoski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Manoski in particular looking to stall.
Manoski is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Roman Manoski has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Manoski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Diaz moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Roman Manoski has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Diaz rushes Manoski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Manoski is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Manoski avoid being mounted?

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Manoski is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold.
Diaz is controlling the pace.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Diaz dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Roman Manoski's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Diaz scores with a jab. Manoski acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Diaz throws a right hand that Manoski ducks under and follows up with a left that Manoski also avoids with ease.
Manoski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carlos Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Diaz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Manoski misses with a body kick.
Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Manoski displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz.

Diaz takes the fight into the clinch.
Manoski jumps guard but Diaz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Manoski.

Diaz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Manoski quickly recovers to half guard.

Manoski makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Manoski tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Diaz was well out of range. Poor timing from Manoski.

Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Manoski's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Manoski is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Carlos Diaz wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Manoski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Manoski closes the distance but Diaz moves to the side
and Diaz counters with a two punch combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Diaz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Diaz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Diaz wants to stand up but Manoski has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Diaz slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Manoski is trying to control but can't.
Manoski might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Diaz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We're going to have a standup here because Carlos Diaz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Diaz tries to clinch up.

The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Diaz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Diaz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Manoski dives on top into guard.

Diaz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Manoski tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Manoski to the ground. Manoski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Diaz counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Manoski is looking to break free of the clinch but Diaz has double underhooks.
Manoski tries to pull guard but Diaz forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Manoski but Manoski pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Diaz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Diaz thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Manoski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Diaz tries to reverse the position but Manoski maintains control.

Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
