0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnnie Jackson! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson gets a takedown into half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Ribeiro looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Jackson tries to stand and escape but Ribeiro is controlling the position. Jackson decides to stand up. John Ribeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ribeiro shoots and misses and Jackson counters with a head kick. That will keep Ribeiro thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Ribeiro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jackson decides to take the fight back to the feet. Jackson pushes Ribeiro up against the cage in a clinch. Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ribeiro has his takedown stuffed and Jackson moves into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Ribeiro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ribeiro is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jackson is defending well. It's a sloppy attempt though and Ribeiro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ribeiro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jackson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ribeiro shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnnie Jackson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Ribeiro seems to have locked his on tight now - Jackson screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Ribeiro, as he picks up the win!
