PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Seymore McDowel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Misual Lal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lal is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rocky Theme Song. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seymore McDowel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Misual Lal!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDowel closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lal's guard.
McDowel content to stall in guard here.

McDowel decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lal scores with the left hand. McDowel knows he should have avoided that one.
Lal moves out of range as McDowel throws a body kick.

McDowel has closed the distance and engaged Lal in a clinch.

McDowel has Lal pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McDowel pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lal tumbling to the mat - McDowel dives into Lal's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McDowel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

McDowel trying to control the position from guard on top but Lal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

McDowel stands up from Lal's guard - McDowel perhaps looking for a knockout.
McDowel leaves Lal with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McDowel wants to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McDowel misses with a head kick.

McDowel tries to keep at a distance but Lal has taken the fight into the clinch.

McDowel manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
McDowel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lal is one step ahead there.
Lal content to stall in guard here.

Lal gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Lal tries to close the distance and clinch but McDowel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McDowel shoots in for a takedown but Lal shows good takedown defense.
McDowel takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
McDowel swats away the attempt to clinch by Lal.
Lal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lal leaves McDowel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lal tries to close the distance and clinch up but McDowel swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lal scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lal shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McDowel as he jumps to the side.
McDowel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lal sprawls well. Lal wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McDowel gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seymore McDowel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McDowel.
McDowel is breathing heavily.
Lal wants to clinch up but McDowel keeps it at a distance.
Lal throws a head kick that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lal has his takedown stuffed

and McDowel counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McDowel has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lal is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seymore McDowel dominated that round.

McDowel shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Lal slaps away a takedown attempt from McDowel, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A left lands for Lal.
Lal fails to land the takedown.
Lal shoots for a double leg takedown but McDowel sprawls well. He's pushed Lal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McDowel shoots in but Lal avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McDowel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lal tries to avoid it but McDowel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lal to the ground. Lal escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seymore McDowel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lal tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. McDowel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDowel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nice sprawl there from McDowel as Lal shoots in.
Seymore McDowel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lal feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McDowels jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Lal is looking to clinch.
McDowel has a takedown stuffed.
McDowel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lal's waist but Lal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McDowel off to one side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lal fails with a takedown attempt.
Lal doesn't manage to clinch there - McDowel circles away.
Seymore McDowel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lal tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and McDowel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lal trying to control here.
Lal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lal is refusing to be controlled, as McDowel sits in half guard.
Lal wants to control the action here but instead McDowel manages to pass to full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lal tries to lock up and control but McDowel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lal is desperately trying to improve his position but McDowel has a good base and remains in mount.

Lal tries to buck McDowel off so he can stand up but McDowel has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Lal falls backwards, slamming McDowel to the mat but McDowel holds on tight! Lal is forced to tap and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Seymore McDowel!
