0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Smanderson Shmilva! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smithf gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Smithf escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shmilva tries for a takedown but Smithf circles away easily so Smithf counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Smithf sitting in guard here, content to control. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smithf holds on and takes a little breather. Shmilva wants to control from the top but Smithf keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shmilva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shmilva wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Smithf is now in half guard. Shmilva tries to avoid it but Smithf manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shmilva to the ground. Shmilva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That was a close second round but I would say that Jerry Smithf will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
