Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Fitch!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fitch napping and manages to drive through into side control!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fitch is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fitch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Fitch is trying to work for a sweep but Jones has mounted him!
Fitch is trying desperately to improve position.
Fitch holds of for dear life.
Fitch keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fitch slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fitch keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fitch can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones prevents Fitch from improving his position.
Jones wants to control but Fitch is keeping him busy.
Jones tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fitch controls his leg.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fitch knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fitch is positioning himself well to prevent Jones advancing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones throws a head kick but Fitch moves out of range.
Fitch shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Fitch's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jones shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Fitch moves into full guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Fitch keeps moving.
Jones passes Fitch's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones trying to control from Fitch's half guard. Fitch has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Fitch keeps moving.
Fitch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fitch controlling the action here.
Fitch wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it.

Fitch is trying for a kimura here. Jones looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Fitch wins by kimura!
