And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Payne Stewart Jr!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Stewart Jr.

Van Dam tried to score with a low kick but Stewart Jr checks it.

and Stewart Jr counters with a three punch combo that has Van Dam backing up. Van Dam nods at Stewart Jr to acknowledge the strikes.

Stewart Jr forces Van Dam back against the cage and clinches.
Van Dam jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stewart Jr walks away with a smile on his face. Van Dam gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Payne Stewart Jr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed right hand from Van Dam misses the target.
Stewart Jr throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Van Dam.
Van Dam shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Stewart Jr lands a right hook to the body.

Van Dam has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stewart Jr finds it's way round the side to connect with Van Dam's head.
Stewart Jr fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Van Dam.
Stewart Jr fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Van Dam on the side of the head.
Stewart Jr connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Van Dam's hands.

Stewart Jr lands a nice leg kick that just misses Van Dam's sensitive parts.
Van Dam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stewart Jr circles away.

Van Dam avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Van Dam throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stewart Jr sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Van Dam shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A punch lands to the side of Van Dam 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Stewart Jr displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Van Dam throws out the jab.

Van Dam moves forwards but Stewart Jr connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Stewart Jr throws a nice outside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Van Dam shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stewart Jr is trying to defend but Van Dam finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Van Dam throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Van Dam is looking for a kimura but Stewart Jr is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Van Dam to get the leverage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stewart Jr makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Stewart Jr moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Stewart Jr sizes up Van Dam with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Payne Stewart Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Van Dam looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Van Dam is looking to take this one to the mat.
Van Dam tries to throw a body punch but Stewart Jr avoids it by throwing Van Dam back against the cage.
Stewart Jr lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Stewart Jr is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Stewart Jr gets through Van Dam's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Van Dam decides to pull guard.

Stewart Jr stands and steps away. Van Dam gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Stewart Jr turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Stewart Jr lands a jab to Van Dam's midsection.
Stewart Jr scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
The fighters circle, before Stewart Jr throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Van Dam's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Stewart Jr lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
