PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacoby Shaddix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaddix has chosen waking the demon as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jacoby Shaddix!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Walsh.
Walsh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Walsh scores with a body shot.
Some bone on bone action there as Shaddix checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Shaddix tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Walsh swivels and escapes.
Shaddix is looking to clinch.
Walsh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
An inside leg kick lands from Walsh.
Shaddix throws a sloppy head kick and Walsh moves out of range easily.
Shaddix is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Walsh stuffs the takedown attempt from Shaddix. Shaddix gets slowly back to his feet.
Shaddix drops his hands momentarily and Walsh takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walsh getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Walsh lands a glancing blow to the side of Shaddix's head.
Walsh connects with a solid leg kick.
Walsh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shaddix.
Frank Walsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacoby Shaddix.

Walsh connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Shaddix to the floor! Walsh dives in looking for the finish!


Shaddix is rocked!


It looks like Jacoby Shaddix has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walsh trying to control the pace.
Shaddix is still in real trouble! Can Walsh finish him?
Shaddix seems to have recovered his senses.

Shaddix actively working from the bottom here.
Walsh is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Frank Walsh has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Shaddix tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Walsh drops Shaddix with a left and a right! Oh, Shaddix is hurt - Walsh dives into side control looking to finish!
Shaddix looks gassed!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Shaddix tries to improve position but can't.
Shaddix is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Shaddix striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Walsh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shaddix on the ground.
The referee asks Walsh politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Walsh prefers to stall for the moment though.

Shaddix prevents Walsh from improving position.
Walsh wants to stand but Shaddix has his arm trapped.
Shaddix tries to bench press Walsh off him but Walsh keeps the position.
Walsh tries to move into full mount but can't pass Shaddix's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shaddix is pushing Walsh's head away, looking to escape. Walsh manages to hold on to the position though.
Walsh happy to just control the position for now.
Shaddix tries to improve position but can't.
Shaddix struggling a bit here.
A lull in the action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Walsh has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Walsh dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jacoby Shaddix's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Shaddix takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Good leg kick by Walsh there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Shaddix throws a sloppy head kick
and Walsh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Walsh with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Shaddix moves in looking to clinch but Walsh pushes him off.
Walsh scores with a leg kick.
Nice body kick there by Walsh.
Shaddix is breathing heavily.
Walsh lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walsh thumps Shaddix with a low kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Walsh.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A slapping leg kick lands for Walsh.
Jacoby Shaddix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shaddix stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Walsh.
Walsh with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Walsh dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Shaddix. That did some damage!
Walsh lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Walsh chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Shaddix's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Walsh drops Shaddix with a right and a left! Walsh comes rushing in but Shaddix regains his composure and manages to keep Walsh in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walsh seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Walsh works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Shaddix looks like he's trying to stand up.
Walsh not doing much here.

Frank Walsh has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Shaddix takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Walsh is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shaddix can do to turn this around?

Shaddix takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Walsh throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Walsh. Shaddix shrugs it off though.
Walsh clobbers Shaddix with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Walsh lands a nice hook to Shaddix's body. Shaddix takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Walsh throws a quick inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Walsh connects with a solid leg kick.
Walsh throws a nice outside leg kick.
Walsh throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Whack! Walsh lands a heavy head kick that drops Shaddix. The ref tackles Walsh to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Shaddix was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Frank Walsh!
