Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Roper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy Cheechoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Roper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paddy Cheechoo! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cheechoo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Roper fails with the takedown letting Cheechoo counter with a right hand.
It looks like James Roper has been cut. Cheechoo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Roper has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Cheechoo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Roper shoots in but no luck this time. Cheechoo drives through with a takedown into Roper's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Cheechoo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cheechoo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Cheechoo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Roper works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cheechoo throws a big right hand that misses. Cheechoo trying to control the position from guard on top but Roper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Roper is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cheechoo is aware though and is defending well. Roper looking for a sweep. Not yet Roper, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roper controls Cheechoo momentarily but Cheechoo frees himself. Cheechoo is stalling in the full guard. Roper is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Roper looking for a guillotine here but Cheechoo defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cheechoo tries to free his leg and advance position but Roper is retaining full guard. Roper working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Cheechoo has passed into half guard!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Cheechoo tries to stand and escape but Roper is controlling the position. Cheechoo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Roper flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cheechoo tries to stand and escape but Roper is controlling the position. Roper works his way to full guard. Good work. Roper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cheechoo's guard. Cheechoo working a defensive guard here.
Roper trying to control the position from guard on top but Cheechoo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cheechoo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Roper is one step ahead there. Roper throwing strikes from guard but Cheechoo blocks nicely. Cheechoo manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Roper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cheechoo sprawls well. Cheechoo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roper gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Roper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roper shoots in but Cheechoo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Roper jabs Cheechoo to the body, keeping him at a distance. Cheechoo looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Cheechoo as Roper shoots in. Roper connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Roper fails with a takedown attempt. Roper will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Cheechoo stuffs the takedown. Cheechoo lands a two punch combo.
Cheechoo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cheechoo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Roper manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cheechoo blocks a jab. Roper dodges the punch combination from Cheechoo.
Cheechoo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that James Roper will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on James Roper's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Cheechoo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Roper's half guard. Cheechoo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cheechoo slips a nice elbow through Roper's hands, connecting with Roper's forehead. Roper works his way to full guard. Good work. Roper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cheechoo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cheechoo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Roper is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. James Roper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Roper trying to mount his opponent but Cheechoo defends it. Cheechoo keeping control of the position. Roper trying to control the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cheechoo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Roper. Roper is trying to work for a kimura but Cheechoo is defending well.
Roper is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cheechoo tries to get to full guard but Roper has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roper working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Cheechoo's thigh. Cheechoo counters though and makes it back to full guard. Cheechoo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Roper wants to control from the top but Cheechoo keeps moving. Cheechoo has Roper pulled in close to control his posture. Roper passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roper trying to control the position but Cheechoo is working away. Cheechoo managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Roper.
Cheechoo is trying to improve his position. Roper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cheechoo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Roper tries to advance to mount but Cheechoo denies him. Cheechoo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Roper is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roper misses with a head shot. Roper controlling from mount. Roper throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Cheechoo avoids a series of strikes thrown by Roper.
Roper thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Roper sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Roper breaks from Cheechoo's wrist control and lands an elbow. Cheechoo is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Roper working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Cheechoo looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Roper! Submission of the night perhaps?
