Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thrasher Boy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ralph Barcinas! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boy avoids the body shot from Barcinas.
Barcinas shoots in for a takedown but Boy shows good takedown defense. Barcinas staying out of range there. Boy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Barcinas napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Boy is working Barcinas over with some ground and pound from side control. Boy working the head and body with strikes. Barcinas avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Boy. Boy controlling from side mount. Boy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Boy landing strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boy is staying tight to Barcinas's torso, preventing him from escaping. Boy lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boy working the ground and pound. Boy misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Barcinas is looking for a sweep. Barcinas is pushing Boy's head away, looking to escape. Boy manages to hold on to the position though. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barcinas can do anything to dispel that myth. Boy trying to control the action but Barcinas is working from the bottom. Barcinas tries to bench press Boy off him but Boy keeps the position. Boy lands a few punches from side control. Boy cracks Barcinas with a big elbow.
Barcinas is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Barcinas on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Barcinas is still in real trouble! Can Boy finish him? Boy controls the position. A big shot lands for Boy! That's hurt Barcinas! Will he recover? Boy fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thrasher Boy! After the fight, Thrasher Boy was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
