Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Iqbal Al Mamood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Kirshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Mamood comes into the arena with Mamute Pequenino blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Iqbal Al Mamood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Kirshaw!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirshaw dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Al Mamood. That did some damage!
Kirshaw scores with a leg kick.
Kirshaw digs a good body shot into Al Mamood's ribs.
Al Mamood lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kirshaw circles away quickly and effectively.
Kirshaw tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Al Mamood was well out of range. Poor timing from Kirshaw.
Al Mamood closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kirshaw circles away.
Al Mamood throws a hook but Kirshaw avoids it easily.
Kirshaw looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Kirshaw throws a head kick that misses.
Kirshaw misses with an uppercut. Al Mamood saw that one coming.
Kirshaw throws a body punch but Al Mamood moves out of range.
Kirshaw feints and then cracks Al Mamood's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Al Mamood down.

Al Mamood closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kirshaw to the mat! Kirshaw manages to get full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kirshaw is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Thomas Kirshaw hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Kirshaw lands a nice hook to Al Mamood's body. Al Mamood takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kirshaw is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Al Mamood rather than just go for the knockout.
Kirshaw bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kirshaw clobbers Al Mamood with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Al Mamood tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kirshaw sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Al Mamood somewhat.

Al Mamood shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Al Mamood was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Al Mamood takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kirshaw is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kirshaw wants to hold on but Al Mamood pushes him away.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Thomas Kirshaw.
Kirshaw moves out of range as Al Mamood strikes.
Al Mamood shoots in looking for a takedown. Kirshaw tries to sprawl out of it but Al Mamood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kirshaw manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Al Mamood manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kirshaw on his heels. He'll look to pass Kirshaw's guard now, I'm sure.

Kirshaw wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
