Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Athan Stamatis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Stamatis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Lose Yourself. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Wayne does no damage.
Stamatis circles away from the clinch attempt
and Stamatis counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like John Wayne has been cut.

enabling Stamatis to counter with a crisp jab.

Stamatis throws a leg kick which misses Wayne's front leg but catches the back leg as Wayne tries to avoid it.

Wayne tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stamatis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Both fighters circling a little - Stamatis finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Stamatis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Stamatis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wayne did well to prevent Stamatis getting side control.
Wayne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stamatis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stamatis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wayne on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Stamatis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Stamatis's corner calls for a 1-2. Stamatis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
