PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darius Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah CD (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis comes into the arena with 2pac nothing to lose blaring out of the sound system. Darius Ellis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darius Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noah CD!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CD throws out a loose jab but Ellis uses good head movement to avoid it.
CD throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
CD throws out a powerful jab.
CD misses with a low kick.
Ellis throws a head kick that misses.
CD throws a half hearted mid kick.

Ellis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ellis lands in his opponent's guard.
CD looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ellis trying to control the position from guard on top but CD is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
CD seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now CD is on top in guard.
Ellis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

CD wants to stand but Ellis is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ellis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ellis has his foot on CD's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. CD works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ellis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but CD can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

CD gets to his feet. Ellis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
CD throws a nice head kick!
CD pushes Ellis away with a front kick.
Ellis is breathing heavily.
Ellis moves in looking to clinch but CD pushes him off.
CD is looking to land body kicks.
CD throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ellis takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Both fighters circling a little - CD finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Ellis throws out a powerful jab.
CD takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Horrible takedown by Ellis or perhaps it was just good defense by CD which made him look bad.
CD stuffs the takedown.
Ellis closes this distance looking for a takedown but CD circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darius Ellis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ellis jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Danga de danga de dang - CD scores with a four punch combination!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
CD keeps the fight on the outside.
A bone on bone clash there as Ellis blocks the leg kick.
Ellis fails with an attempt to clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by CD.
Ellis misses with a kick to the body.
A head kick from CD lands but Ellis takes it in his stride.
CD misses with a double jab.
Ellis moves out of range as CD throws a body kick.
CD misses with a kick to the body.

Ellis avoids the head kick by CD.
Ellis throws a head kick that misses.
CD keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A combination from CD does no damage.
CD does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Ellis misses with a takedown attempt - CD sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
CD throws a low kick but Ellis avoids it.
CD lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ellis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? CD is fending him off so far but Ellis persists. Nope, CD circles away and we're back to standing.
Ellis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ellis checks a leg kick.
CD stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Noah CD dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


CD throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ellis shoots in and drives through. CD sprawls well.
CD pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Ellis gets the takedown into side control.
CD is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Ellis creates some space and throws a big elbow, but CD sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Ellis wants to lay and pray for a moment but CD keeps working.
CD defending against the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ellis has knee on belly and moves into mount.
CD is breathing heavily.
CD really wants to buck Ellis off and get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ellis thowing shots but they're missing.
CD is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
CD is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Ellis content just to control the position here.
CD wants to try and get back to his feet.
Ellis trying to control but CD is having none of it.
CD tries to reverse the position but Ellis maintains control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ellis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can CD hang on?
Ellis tries to push CD's head away but CD is holding on tight.
CD tries to lock up and control but Ellis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

CD's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
CD is looking to get to half guard.
CD is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Ellis.
Ellis looking to control but CD is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ellis avoids the attempt from CD to control.
Ellis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
CD wants to control but Ellis is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

CD bucks Ellis off and manages to get back to his feet!
Ellis tries to score with a low kick but CD moves his leg out of the way.
Ellis misses with a body kick.
CD throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ellis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
CD throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ellis on the side of the head.
Ellis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before CD can pounce on him.
CD throws a leg kick which misses Ellis's front leg but catches the back leg as Ellis tries to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ellis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ellis misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
CD gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darius Ellis dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Ouch! a nice leg kick from CD, right into the meat.
Ellis shoots in for a double leg but CD sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
An inside leg kick lands from CD.
CD looks for the body kick but Ellis saw that one coming.
Crunch! CD slams his shin into Ellis's torso.
Ellis walks forward, straight into a front kick from CD.
Ellis shoots for a takedown but CD saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ellis tries to move into range but CD moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
CD connects with a high kick.
Ellis takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
CD with a nice cross.
CD swats away the attempt to clinch by Ellis.
Ellis will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
CD misses with a low kick.
CD slow jab from Ellis misses its intended target.
Ellis shoots in for a double leg but CD sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darius Ellis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
CD pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
CD takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ellis takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts CD as he jumps to the side.
Noah CD is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ellis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
CD cracks Ellis with an open hand slap.
CD looks for the body kick but Ellis saw that one coming.
A low kick from CD misses
and Ellis counters with a nice leg kick.
Ellis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. CD tries to avoid it but Ellis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag CD to the ground. CD escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
CD has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
CD tries to land a front kick but Ellis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ellis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ellis shoots in and drives through. CD sprawls well.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by CD.
Ellis looks for a takedown but CD sprawls well.
CD scores with a jab to the jaw.
A shot to de liver by Ellis. Beautiful body shot.
Ellis lands a high kick to the side of CD's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Ellis dives into guard, looking to finish.


CD is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
CD is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
CD is still in real trouble! Can Ellis finish him?
Ellis wants to control from the top but CD keeps moving.
Ellis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. CD swivels though and keeps the full guard.
CD seems to have recovered his senses.
Ellis wants to control from the top but CD keeps moving.
CD pulls Ellis in to control the position.
CD is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ellis wants to control the action here but instead CD manages to pass to full mount!

CD's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Ellis tries to lock up and control but CD gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ellis is working to get back to half guard.
CD controlling his opponent.
Ellis tries to hold on but CD postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis is in all sorts of trouble here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Noah CD comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think CD has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
