6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wrestling Spar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shio Sakaki! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spar throws a body punch but Sakaki moves out of range. Sakaki scores with a leg kick.
Sakaki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sakaki wants to control the pace but Spar is squirming around nicely. Spar wants to hold on but Sakaki pushes him away. Spar can't escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Spar bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Sakaki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sakaki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spar engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sakaki dives in and scores a takedown into Spar's guard. Sakaki won't allow Spar to sweep him here. Spar controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Spar misses with a series of wild punches.
Spar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sakaki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Spar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Spar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Sakaki trying to control from Spar's half guard. Spar has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spar pulls Sakaki in close to prevent any damage. Sakaki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Spar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sakaki is one step ahead there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sakaki tries to free his leg and advance position but Spar is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shio Sakaki dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sakaki closes the distance and clinches. Sakaki decides to pull guard. Spar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Spar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A looping hook to the body misses from Spar. Sakaki does a little dance to reset his feet. Spar throws a body kick that misses. Spar swings for the body but Sakaki moves out of range.
Sakaki takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Spar has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spar misses the shot to the body. Sakaki throws a nice looking combination but Spar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Sakaki shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Spar is trying to defend but Sakaki finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Spar keeps control of the position for the meantime. Spar is refusing to be controlled, as Sakaki sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Spar is doing well to control the position and prevent Sakaki from advancing to side control.
Shio Sakaki has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Sakaki drives through with a takedown into Spar's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Spar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sakaki manages to get himself to full guard.

Sakaki is breathing heavily. Spar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Shio Sakaki will probably get the nod - 10:9. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Sakaki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sakaki wants to stand but Spar has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Sakaki preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Sakaki looking to sit in guard and control but Spar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Spar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Wrestling Spar just wasn't active enough. Sakaki looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Spar! Spar working to try and regain half guard.
Spar wants to hold on but Sakaki pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sakaki trying to control but Spar is having none of it. Spar is in all sorts of trouble here.
Spar holds on to Sakaki around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks. Sakaki prevents Spar from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spar tries to hold on but Sakaki postures up. Spar gets back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spar controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Wrestling Spar has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Sakaki has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Shio Sakaki. Well Sakaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
