Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Christian De Ertu!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Rory!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rory throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
De Ertu slips a jab and a cross from Rory.
De Ertu gets the takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
De Ertu lands some shots froms side control.
De Ertu is staying tight to Rory's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Rory pushes De Ertu away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, De Ertu gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
De Ertu is working to tighten is grip on Rory's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Rory has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but De Ertu is really squeezing tight and eventually Rory passes out! De Ertu breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Christian De Ertu!
