PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Zummi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zummi comes to the cage accompanied by Gummi Bears. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Zummi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zummi lands a nice shot that snaps Diaz's head back.
Zummi lunges at Diaz with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Diaz's hand.
Zummi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Zummi misses with the combination.
Diaz thows a left - swing and a miss!
Diaz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Zummi's head.
Diaz scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Zummi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Diaz swings for the body but Zummi moves out of range.
Diaz misses with a leg kick.
Diaz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diaz takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Zummi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Diaz thuds his right hand into Zummi's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.


It looks like Steve Zummi has been cut.
Zummi lands a nice looking body shot.
Diaz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diaz slips under a jab.
Zummi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Zummi throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Zummi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.
Zummi scores with a decent looking hook.

Diaz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Zummi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Diaz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Zummi throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Diaz throws a low kick but Zummi moves out of range easily.

Diaz misses the shot to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zummi on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.

Zummi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Steve Zummi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zummi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Zummi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Diaz will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Diaz throws a hook but Zummi blocks it.

Zummi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Zummi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Zummi misses the shot to the body.
Diaz moves into range and connects with a jab.

Zummi darts in and clinches Diaz up against the cage.
Zummi can't break the clinch.
Diaz trying to control the position but instead, Zummi has worked for underhooks and has pushed Diaz into the cage.

Diaz misses with some punches.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Zummi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diaz circles away quickly and effectively.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Diaz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Diaz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diaz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Diaz moves out of range as Zummi strikes.
Diaz scores with a nice right hand.


Zummi is rocked!

Diaz clinches with his opponent.
Oh Zummi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz digs a right hand into Zummi's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Zummi's gas tank.
Diaz lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Zummi backwards.

A right hook to the body lands for Diaz.
Diaz lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Zummi to his knees! Diaz keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Diaz!
A very excited looking Nick Diaz rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
