These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Van Kirkland throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Anderson was covering up waiting for the punch and Van Kirkland finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Van Kirkland wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.
Anderson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Van Kirkland is one step ahead there.

Anderson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Van Kirkland momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Anderson takes a swing at Van Kirkland's ribcage but misses.
Anderson lands a big head kick that sends Van Kirkland tumbling to the mat! Anderson takes a step backwards and waves Van Kirkland back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Anderson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Van Kirkland manages to avoid it.
Anderson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Van Kirkland. That did some damage!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Van Kirkland shoots in for a double leg but Anderson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Oooooh!!! Anderson has knocked Van Kirkland down with a huge combo! Anderson steps away and waves a wobbly Van Kirkland back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Van Kirkland is rocked!
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mikhail Van Kirkland's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
